In the second part of this series of films Rudolf Zeilinger offers the spectator clear insight into the first years training of his dressage horses under the rider and also presents a very practical view of a horse's first experience in young riding horse competitions.

The first part of this series of films shows the first steps of lungeing and riding the young horse, considering always their level of training. It is astonishing to see how fast the young horse develops confidence and relaxes - a logical consequence of the calm and consistent work of Zeilinger.

Anja Beran is a classical dressage trainer and her intention in making this film is to give riders a different understanding of dressage and to make clear: dressage is made for the horse and horses are not made for dressage! Together with her mentor Manuel Jorge de Oliveira, she shows that only correct dressage work turns a horse into a riding horse.

Philippe Karl's training philiosophy is inspired by the most accomplished masters(la Gueriniere, Baucher, Beudant, L'Hotte etc.) and founded on an absolute respect of the horse. Basic knowledge of anatomy, motion, balance, and psychology enables the rider to get the best from any horse without using force or constraint systems. His training system is not only a pleasurable experience for horse and rider but also the kindest and most efficient way to achieve a real collection and an expressive horse both on the flat and over jumps.

"Collection makes the horse look like a classical dancer", that's Philippe Karl's aim. In this third step of training Philippe uses the gymnastic exercises as previously demonstrated, to improve collection. Passage, pirouette and piaffe are the peaks of collection. A pirouette is the utmost of rotation of the horse around its quarters and only a supple and collected horse can manage this air.

In the second part of this schooling series, Philippe Karl presents additional gymnastic exercises, which continue to further the horse's training. He introduces the double bridle as an important aid for advanced gymnastic exercises.

Philippe Karl's philosophy for his training methods are based on understanding the physical and mental conditions of the horse, the ease of the aids and the horse's movements.
