  • The ease of the aids defines the horse's movements.

  • Introducing the horse to training on two tracks.

On this DVD Philippe Karl shares his philosophy for his dressage training methods which are based on understanding the physical and mental conditions of the horse, the ease of the aids and the horse's movements. In his Classical Dressage series of DVDs Philippe Karl presents his classical dressage training methods based on a lifetimes study of the old masters of classical riding such as La Gueriniere and Baucher.

Volume 1 of the Classical Dressage DVD series is concerned with The School of Aids and Philippe Karl firmly believes it is fundamental that the aids are taught clearly before the horse begins to do any gymnastic work. A lively mouth is essential for a real receptivity to the rider's hand and complete flexibility of the neck is essential for neck extension and flexion of the poll. An introduction to training on two tracks completes the first part of this schooling series.

Chapters include:
  • Lungeing
  • Basics
  • Easy in Hand
  • Aids Under the Rider
  • Lateral Work
Phillipe Karl was a member of the famous "Cadre Noir" in France for 13 years and his riding technique is a feast for the eyes.
