For every child who has ever ridden a horse, Pippa Funnell's story is the stuff of dreams. She has won all the top prizes, including the Grand Slam, World and European Championship medals, and silver and bronze medals in both the Sydney and Athens Olympic Games, and in 2005 she was awarded an MBE.
But her path from starry-eyed pony clubber to eventing's world number one has been fraught with setbacks. Here Pippa reveals how she struggled for years, not only against criticism and failure, but also her own demons. Her discovery of the power of sports psychology transformed her attitude and fortunes, and astonishing success followed.
Candid, inspiring and funny, Pippa provides a gripping insight into what life is really like on the international eventing circuit. Including a fascinating diary of her dramatic Athens Olympics, she unveils the heartaches behind the triumphs and, above all, writes movingly about the horses who make it all possible.
