Details

Offering a unique insight into the world of eventing, William Fox-Pitt provides quirky and moving insights into the horses he has known and loved, sometimes as much for their character defects as their excellence. As the son of two Badminton riders, William Fox-Pitt was born into the eventing world, and when he won the huge red, white and blue champion's rosette at his local Pony Club Show in the Jubilee year of 1977, he was hooked. Now he talks about his battles to get to the top, how it has affected his personal life, and the excitement and dangers of the sport he loves.

William's career has seen both triumph and disaster: his Badminton victory in 2004 was followed by the heartbreak of the Athens Olympics, with Tamarillo going lame when poised for team gold and individual glory. The 2007 / 2008 season also had highs and lows: William gives a frank assessment of the controversial 2007 Badminton, when he withdrew his horse; he reveals the full story behind the Beijing Olympics; and talks about how he achieved back to back Burghley wins in 2007 and 2008. He also analyses the risks in a sport that has killed several close friends, and how that affects him each time he goes out to compete.

Honest and outspoken, revealing and funny, this is a gripping book that takes the reader to the heart of eventing, written by someone who has seen it all and achieved almost all there is to achieve in the sport of eventing.
